Following a fantastic year with Errorsmith, Proc Fiskal, Happa, Jabes, Giant Swan, Josey Rebelle, 96 Back, Le Dom, De Grandi, SPFDJ, VTSS and DMX Krew (+ plenty of resident parties in between), we’re celebrating our 2nd birthday by inviting the legendary DJ Stingray down to The Mash House alongside one of our favourite previous guests, Solid Blake.
Detroit native DJ Stingray has become somewhat of a household name for many in the last few years, but has been an ever-growing force in electro and techno from its earliest days. Stingray’s razor-sharp mixing and tight production chops that he’s now so well known for are the result of years of accumulated skill and knowledge – from early beginnings leading the Urban Tribe project (which counts Moodymann, Carl Craig and Anthony Shakir as members), and his involvement with the hugely influential Detroit duo Drexciya, to his consistently unique and future-facing output on labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Shipwrec and Presto!?. Through dedication to his craft alone he’s helped spearhead a fresh new appetite for electro across the world’s best dancefloors, while constantly challenging himself and his audiences. It’s our absolute pleasure to invite him to Palidrone to help celebrate our 2nd birthday.
Joining DJ Stingray is Solid Blake, who we’ve been itching to welcome back since she first came to play for us back in December last year with Mama Snake. Originally from Glasgow, as one of the co-founders of Apeiron Crew Solid Blake was instrumental in the development of Copenhagen’s status as an epicentre for fast, high energy techno that has come to define much of the contemporary clubbing landscape. After debuting on La Cheetah’s Outer Zone label in 2017 (with remix from DJ Stingray), Solid Blake has formed a sparse yet extraordinarily singular set of releases on labels such as Brokntoys, Modeselektor’s Seilscheibenpfeiler and Sunil Sharpe’s Earwiggle (as Historical Repeater, her collaborative project with Ctrls), as well as putting in remixes for Mechatronica, E-Missions and Stockholm LTD. Since her last appearance for us she’s rightly gone on to take command of stages across the world from New Delhi to New York, performed at the likes of Berlin Atonal, Berghain, De School, Fabric, Dimensions Festival and Dekmantel, held down a residency on Rinse FM, and subsequently become one of the scene’s most exciting talents. It was only right that we welcome her back for this very special occasion.
In room 2 we’ll be joined by long time friends to the club Artiisan, the crew who’ve welcomed TSVI and Volruptus to Edinburgh this year and are no strangers to holding down regular slots at The Bongo Club, Sneaky Pete’s and The Mash House – we couldn’t think of a more fitting trio to help us round off our birthday celebrations.
